Fees and Pricing Information

At Lexmark Legal, we are committed to transparency in relation to our pricing. We normally act on the basis of an agreed fixed fee, which is confirmed with you in writing at the outset. This ensures that you have certainty about the costs of your matter.

We do not maintain a client account and therefore we do not hold money on account for disbursements. Any third-party charges such as Home Office fees, Immigration Health Surcharge, tribunal fees, interpreters’ charges, or expert report fees must be paid directly by you to the relevant body or service provider.

VAT

Our fees may be subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) at the prevailing rate (currently 20%) if VAT is chargeable. VAT applies if:

  • the service is taxable,
  • it takes place in the UK,
  • it is provided by a VAT-registered business, and
  • it forms part of business activity.

Where VAT applies, we will make this clear in our quotation. If VAT is due on any disbursements (for example, interpreter fees), we will notify you in advance.

Hourly Rates (as an Alternative to Fixed Fees)

Whilst we usually work on a fixed fee basis, in some cases we may agree to charge according to the time spent on your matter. If we do so, our fees are calculated by reference to the guideline London 3 hourly rates for 2024/25, depending on the experience of the fee earner:

  • Grade A – Solicitors and legal executives with over 8 years’ experience: £312 per hour (excl. VAT)
  • Grade B – Solicitors and legal executives with over 4 years’ experience: £256 per hour (excl. VAT)
  • Grade C – Other solicitors, legal executives and fee earners of equivalent experience: £204 per hour (excl. VAT)
  • Grade D – Trainee solicitors, paralegals and other fee earners: £143 per hour (excl. VAT)

The time spent will depend on the complexity of the matter, the evidence available, and the number of issues requiring resolution. We will always provide an estimate in advance and keep you informed if this changes.

Disbursements and Additional Costs

Our fixed fees and hourly rates do not cover disbursements, which are costs payable to third parties. These may include:

  • Home Office or UKVI application fees
  • Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)
  • Court or tribunal fees
  • Barristers’ fees (if required for advocacy)
  • Expert reports (e.g. medical or country expert)
  • Interpreter and translation services

We will advise you in writing of any anticipated disbursements at the outset and keep you updated if additional costs arise.

Services Included in Our Fees

Our fees cover the professional services we provide, which may include:

  1. Initial Consultation – assessment of your circumstances and advice on the most suitable application route.
  2. Explanation of Immigration Rules – clear advice on the legal requirements applicable to your case.
  3. Eligibility Assessment – confirmation of whether you meet the requirements and advice on strengthening your application.
  4. Evidence Review – examination of your documents and identification of any further evidence needed.
  5. Application Preparation – completion of forms, preparation of legal representations, and compilation of supporting documents.
  6. Submission – lodging your application with the Home Office or tribunal.
  7. Guidance and Communication – ongoing advice and updates throughout the process.
  8. Interview Representation – assistance in the event of a Home Office interview, including arranging an interpreter if required.
  9. Outcome Notification – communicating the result and advising on any further steps.

Processing Times

Processing times vary depending on the type of application, the completeness of the evidence provided, and the Home Office’s own timescales. We cannot guarantee a specific decision date. We will, however, advise you at the outset of the published average Home Office processing times for your application type and keep you informed of progress.
